Upgrade notes

All releases

Upgrading across several releases applies each release's notes, oldest first.

  1. 0.6.0

    • Update the desktop app and every CLI installation on a computer together, then restart an enabled watcher with hansard watcher restart. Mac apps from 0.5.6 update in place with Update and restart. 0.6.0 upgrades the local sync outbox the first time it writes, after which a 0.5.6 copy on the same computer cannot write to it. Older copies also no longer rewrite conversations a newer importer archived; hansard status and hansard doctor report held conversations and a watcher running a different copy.
    • Importers for Claude Code, Claude desktop and Cowork, Cursor, Devin Desktop, Copilot, Factory, Grok Build, OpenCode, MiMo Code, Antigravity, Goose, pi, Qwen Code, Trae, and Qoder changed. Refresh earlier sessions and import the new Cursor CLI, Posit Assistant, and gptme sources with hansard import --sources claude,claude-code-desktop,claude-cowork,cursor-cli,cursor,devin-desktop,copilot-cli,copilot-ide,factory,grok-build,opencode,mimo-code,antigravity-cli,antigravity,antigravity-ide,goose,pi,qwen-code,trae,qoder,posit-assistant,gptme --since all, then recover Cursor models and token counts with hansard import cursor --recover.
    • Refresh cloud histories with hansard import claude-cloud --since all, hansard import codex-cloud --since all, hansard import devin-cloud --since all, and hansard import factory-cloud --since all. The Claude and Codex imports move earlier hosted copies under the new Claude Code cloud and Codex cloud providers; Remote Control sessions stay with Claude Code. Import ChatGPT and Claude.ai exports again to add conversation records and alternate branches, and choose Rescan all history in the rebuilt browser extension for ChatGPT, Claude.ai, Perplexity, and Devin captures.
    • No hansard rebuild --since all is required: viewer payloads, model and session-kind rules, Stats, and navigation refresh on read or in the background. Each release starts a new parser baseline, so hansard rebuild --stale-parsers and Re-read with current importers re-read every local source; prefer the targeted commands above.
    • Recall tools now run through one MCP host the watcher starts. Existing agent sessions keep working and switch when restarted; run hansard integrations sync so Codex connects to the host, then restart agents.
    • Direct remote connections now listen on the Tailscale address only. Restart a running host after upgrading, and run hansard remote host direct on --network any on a host that other devices reach over the local network. New grants and pairing codes reach every project unless --projects or --portfolio limits them; existing grants keep their project lists. HANSARD_REMOTE_CONTROL=0 turns remote control off.
    • The integration target cursor-ide is now cursor, and the earlier names still work. Resume, fork, and copy actions moved into the conversation’s Actions menu, and the remote control dock action into Settings → Remote access. Newly installed harnesses are offered unless turned off through orchestrate.disabledHandoffProviders and orchestrate.delegation.disabledProviders. Grok Build and OpenCode run over the Agent Client Protocol; hansard config set orchestrate.acpTransport exec restores the earlier launcher. Writes keep 2 GiB free by default (storage.limits.minFreeBytes). sqlite3 and unzip are no longer required.
    • The Windows desktop app remains an unsigned preview with manual installer updates. Before moving an older archive to Windows through Personal Sync, run hansard update --dry-run --since all, then hansard update --since all.

  2. 0.5.6

    • Quit the desktop app before replacing it with the 0.5.6 installer, then reopen it. CLI installations should restart an enabled watcher with hansard watcher restart, then restart the viewer and any agent MCP connections.
    • 0.5.6 is the first desktop release with in-app updates. Later macOS releases install from the app with Update and restart; Mac apps from earlier releases need this one manual upgrade. hansard app install now downloads the signed app from hansard.dev and verifies it before installing.
    • Importers for Codex, Claude Code, Claude SDK, Devin, Grok Build, OpenCode, and Antigravity changed. Refresh earlier sessions with hansard import --sources codex-cli,codex-desktop,codex-sdk,claude,claude-sdk,devin-cli,devin-desktop,grok-build,opencode,antigravity-cli,antigravity-ide,antigravity --since all.
    • Conversations archived before this release gain the revised tool usage fields, including interruptions and the prompt times Stats places by local hour, and revised inferred titles after one hansard rebuild --since all. No reimport is required.
    • npm installations upgrading from 0.5.4 should also follow the 0.5.5 upgrade notes below.
    • Managed agent integrations now include memory search, status reporting, session identity, peer messages, boards, and helper launches by default. The watcher applies them on its next integration pass; hansard integrations sync applies them immediately. Reload agents afterward. --no-memories and explicit off settings are kept.
    • Codex routing keeps Codex’s own ChatGPT sign-in for plugins and connected apps. Refresh an existing Codex routing configuration with hansard account proxy client configure codex, then restart Codex.
    • Classification labels each conversation with one conversation request and one task request, so labels from earlier releases are out of date. The watcher relabels conversations active in the last 30 days; hansard classify run --profile all --limit all relabels older ones.
    • Rebuild and reload the preview browser extension to capture Devin cloud sessions, then choose Rescan all history once to reparse earlier Perplexity captures.
    • The Behavior page is now the Changes tab in Stats. Project coordinators share one harness, model, effort, and helper budget under Settings → Coordinator. The Chart color setting and orchestrate.maxActiveRuns are retired; other saved settings are unchanged.

  3. 0.5.5

    • Quit the desktop app before replacing it with the 0.5.5 installer, then reopen it. CLI installations should restart an enabled watcher with hansard watcher restart, then restart the viewer and any agent MCP connections so new recall tools, Claude model discovery, and peer delivery load.
    • Conversations archived before this release gain per-conversation line counts and the revised tool usage fields after one hansard rebuild --since all. No reimport is required.
    • The watcher archives newly supported local agents going forward. Import their earlier history with hansard import --sources crush,goose,continue,roo-code,roo-code-cli,kilo-code,kilo-code-legacy,amp,zed,deepseek-harness,hermes,openclaw,openhands,junie,warp,kiro,augment,qoder,trae,minimax-code --since all. Cloud and export sources remain explicit imports; see hansard help import.
    • Memory backup reconstructs earlier file versions from archived tool operations. The watcher runs this with its next memory backup; hansard memory backup runs it immediately.
    • Settings sections are regrouped under Personal, Archive, Agents, and Sharing, and Harnesses is renamed Coding agents. Saved settings are unchanged.
    What's new in 0.5.5
  4. 0.5.4

    • Quit the desktop app before replacing it with the 0.5.4 installer, then reopen it. The archive, settings, saved accounts, and credentials remain outside the app bundle. CLI installations should restart an enabled watcher with hansard watcher restart and reopen the viewer after upgrading.
    • Graph v2 builds its derived index in the background on the first Graph visit. Its new relationships and the expanded account usage fields do not require a provider reimport. The next usage capture fills supported account fields.
    • Automatic archiving, plan usage tracking, and secret redaction are selected by default in fresh desktop setup. Existing preferences are preserved.
    • The standalone macOS download is available for Apple silicon. Intel packaging and the previously recorded Windows compatibility work remain separate follow-ups.
    • Earlier 0.5.4 desktop builds can be replaced with the refreshed installer. Refresh Claude subagent titles, Grok Build search queries, and Codex browser request parsing with hansard import --sources claude,codex-cli,codex-desktop,grok-build --since all.
    What's new in 0.5.4
  5. 0.5.3

    • Claude Code and Claude SDK histories (cli-history, claude-sdk-history) include corrected timestamp handling. Records without their own clock, such as file history snapshots, no longer take the import time, which had moved the session start after its end. Refresh existing archives with:

      Terminal window
hansard import --sources claude,claude-sdk --since all
    • Cline task and SDK histories now use enforced source-audited cohorts. Refresh existing Cline archives and their search entries with:

      Terminal window
hansard import --sources cline,cline-cli --since all
      hansard index rebuild
    • OpenCode now uses one canonical import selector and physical store owner with four enforced JSON cohorts and five enforced SQLite cohorts. MiMo Code remains an independent enforced SQLite source rather than inheriting an OpenCode storage contract. Refresh both archives and their search entries with:

      Terminal window
hansard import --source opencode --since all
hansard import --source mimo-code --since all
      hansard index rebuild
    • Cursor workspace chats (cursor-workspace-sqlite) include corrected legacy timestamps. Legacy chat tabs without per-message timestamps are dated from the tab’s recorded send time instead of the workspace store’s modification time, which moved whenever Cursor reopened the workspace. Refresh existing archives with:

      Terminal window
hansard import --source cursor --since all

  6. 0.5.2

    • Version 0.5.2 advances the archive, view, tool-usage, search-index, behavior, SDK-session, and parser contracts. Existing archives remain readable, but a complete local refresh is required to backfill the corrected importer metadata and normalized events. After upgrading, run hansard doctor, preview with hansard update --dry-run --since all, then run hansard update --yes --since all after confirming the original provider histories or usable raw backups are available.
    • Restart a running watcher after a normal package-only upgrade with hansard watcher restart. The full update command handles watcher restart as part of its maintenance flow.
